So this isn't really much of an update. I just thought I'd talk about the dream I just had. In it I was standing in the hall outside of my room looking out into our dinning room and entryway (there aren't any walls between them). My uncle Bret and my dad were talking about some comedy thing they wanted my mom and I to watch. I kind of rolled my eyes because a lot of the things my father finds funny I find stupid (I have no tolerance for stupid humor like South Park). There was an empty laundry basket by my uncle and Franklin was standing next to it. My heart stopped in my dream, because my uncle and Franklin (my cat) are both dead. I walk over to Franklin slowly because I'm afraid he'll disappear otherwise. I reach him and reach my hand out to touch him, still afraid. He sniffs my hand like he always used to, then he headbutts it to get me to pet him. I reach out and start to scratch his neck when my alarm goes off. I've been crying off and on since I woke up. I probably will continue to cry off and on for the rest of the night (for example, I'm almost sobbing right now).

This dream made me remember how much I miss that damn cat, and I was doing such a good job of blocking it out too. I had pushed the pain back far enough that thinking about him didn't hurt anymore. I know it may seem strange that I'm crying about my cat being in my dream and not at all bothered by my uncle being in it. I wasn't really close with my uncle, and I wasn't there with him through his death. It's sad, but it doesn't really bother me much. Franklin was my baby for thirteen years, and I loved him to death. Watching him die of cancer was so horrible. It was like he just wasted away. I still regret not taking him to the vet sooner. It wasn't that they couldn't save him, it was that he would have been in less pain for his end. I knew about a month and a half before we took him in that he was dying and there wasn't anything to be done about it. I knew in my gut it was cancer and that if I took him to the vet they'd tell me for sure that my baby was dying. I regret being so selfish. I really do.

On that depressing note I'm off to do my accounting.

So I haven't posted in over a month and a half. I feel really guilty. Hopefully I'll start posting more soon, because school is over for a few weeks after tomorrow, and I'm now on facebook and updating my status makes me want to post. I still can't believe I joined facebook. My mother bullied me into joining. It took her a while to wear me down, but it happened. I joined to get her to leave me alone. The applications are amusing though, and I've found some old friends that I haven't talked to in ages.

A lot has happened since I last updated. I was on spring break in April. It was nice. I dropped the course from hell (aka the history of western civilization). I dropped Econ because I didn't think I'd be able to pass. My Aunt Jan and Uncle Lee came out for a week. It was very nice to see them again. We had a lot of fun while they were here. English is kicking my ass. I have a C. My final is tomorrow. I have figured out that I dispise Black Boy by Richard Wright. He is way too verbose. I want to throw the book after reading for a little while. I still haven't finished it and my final tomorrow is to write two 500 word essays on it.  It's going to kill me.

On another note, this is the first time in four or five years that I haven't had a final on or just after my birthday. I'm so happy. My birthday is on the 20th, Wednesday. I'm finally turning 20. Yay! In another year I'll be able to get alcohol for my cooking without sending my parents to fetch it for me. I'm so happy about that. Tiff is coming out this weekend to help me celebrate. We might visit Luna depending on her schedule. I seriously want an ice cream cake. I love them. I've recently started painting my nails again. It's interesting to relearn how to paint them properly.

I should finish this now, since I need to finish eating dinner and I really need to finish reading this damned book. *sighs*

So I'm not exactly keeping with my New Year's resolutions. Especially in the posting section. So now to recap the last week or so.

On Friday, I think, Holly called me to give me her totally awesome news!  She's two months pregnant! I'm so happy for her and Will. They are both really happy about it. Holly told me that I needed to get Tiff out here so that Holly could tell her in person. On Holly's orders I arranged with Tiff to have her come out from Tuesday to Friday (today).

From then to Tuesday I was mainly been doing what I was doing before, that is to say I was (am) obsessing over the X-Men files I have. I've been reading here and there over the series and the such. It's a little sad, but it's also interesting. M-day needs to be retconned!!! Really, really needs to be. It was evil!!!

So, on Tuesday I picked up Luna, then I drove to pick up Tiff in San Jose. It was fun. I think I choked on my drink at least four times on that drive. Luna eventually figured out that making me laugh too hard while I was driving was a bad idea. It was fun. So we hung out with Tiff for a while, went back to Tracy with her, hung out some more, then we went to grad dinner. We had fun.

Wednesday we (Tiff and I) finalized our plans to have Will and Holly over for dinner. We went to the store to get what we needed, and then we went home. Holly arrived at 5:45 or so. We talked for a while, then made her nap while we made dinner. Tiff was happy about the news. Will got there while we were cooking. The dogs freaked out (Charlie is totally afraid of Will) and that was oh so fun. Dinner was good. Turkey stir-fry. Yum.  We ended up going out to grab desert at the mall. That was good. We hung out there for a while. I came to the conclusion that Will is a scary driver on our way back. Will and Holly lingered for a bit then went home. Tiff and I watched Dracula. It was a good movie, if you ignore the continuity problems. Then it was time for bed.

Thursday I had class in the morning. Got home and hung out there for a couple of hours, then went to the mall with Tiff once more. We had an air hockey match. Tiff won 3-2. Tangents. *laughs* We hammered out some more details on the rp in order to be able to finish this arc, or at least get through our opponents. Then we headed to C&J's so I could get the engine light code pulled and the light reset. It's the same code that I've been getting off and on since October. Or maybe even earlier than that. I can't remember. Anyway, then we headed home to make pasta carbonara. It was very good. We watched X-Men 2 and then we traded files before bed.

Friday (today) is the day that Tiff is going back. It is a sad day. I was going to go to class this morning but I decided I'd rather continue my very interesting dreams. They were strange and interesting.  Now I'm going to grab some food and I should be taking Tiff back. That's it!

Do you think stem cell research is good, bad, or dangerous? Should it be funded by the government?

Submitted By [info]srkfanatic15

View other answers

This is something I wrote my term paper on in English last spring. I totally and completely think that it is a good thing. My dad has MS, and this kind of research could come up with a treatment that actually helps him. That would be great. I think that some funding should be from the government, but I think the majority of the funding would end up coming from private industry. This research could help so many people that I think it's horrible that we don't support it in America.

When you're stuck in a boring class or meeting, what's your favorite way to keep yourself entertained (or at least from falling asleep)?

View other answers

For me, when I'm in a boring class I read my text book. That way I get some of my reading and highlighting out of the way and I listen with one ear so I know when the discussion is coming. Normally teachers don't throw a fit if you read the textbook in class, as long as you occasionally jot down something for notes. Otherwise I write. Work on a story or jot down story concepts and whatever plot bunnies are gnawing on my at the time. I try to work those into working stories, get the timeline straightened out. *shrugs*

So I've totally meant to keep up with posting at least once a week, but I make fail. Generally nothing's been new in my life. I saw Street Fighter last Monday. It was bad. The fight scenes were neat but the acting just fell short in a lot of ways. The evil guy gave me the chills though. On another note I've now seen Watchmen twice. I saw it on Friday with my dad and it left me with the impression that I wasn't sure if I liked it or not. I saw it again yesterday in IMAX with two of my friends. It was awesome. IMAX rocks when it's not 3D.  That helped me to decide that I do like the movie. I'm planning on seeing it a couple more times in the future because you really can't catch everything in a single viewing ("Clap on!" *clap, clap* "Clap off!" *clap, clap*).  I'd actually like to see it in IMAX again. Maybe I can convince my father to take me.

School slays me in general. In fact, I should probably finish the five chapters of tests I have due today before my midterm...It might be a good idea. I'm off to do that now.

I have read eight on the list and own a great many of the ones on my to do list.  There are 24 listed as ones that I want to read.  Six of the eight that I have read were read in 6th grade or before.  I read Of Mice and Men in 9th grade and enjoyed it, and finished reading Harry Potter after the last book was released (though I started reading the series in middle school).  I still want to get my hands on a copy of The Art of War.

I decided I might as well write up my weekly update before I forget.  Not much new.  I started to play Spore.  School is killing me.  Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory makes chocolate mints to die for.  Rereading too many book.  The Good Earth is interesting.  My brain is dead.  I might be able to post something that makes more sense tomorrow, but maybe not.  I hate morning classes.

I've been bad and haven't posted in a while.  School has started for me.  I just finished the second week of school.  *sighs*  I have a freaking crazy schedule that is totally draining me.  I have lots of homework (mostly reading, though I do have English stuff due every week, and the first essay in Econ is due this upcoming week).  I have been spending too much time at Starbucks.  Vince makes my drink when he sees me coming.  Overall I'm good though.  I'm going to aim to finish in fall semester and I need to get my application ready for transferring.  I am going to finish with two AAs.  I have enough extra general ed credits for a Liberal Arts Degree, as well as the Business one I was aiming for.  My councilor said that I am very much on track.  *laughs*  It made my day to hear that.  Such good news.

On another note, Tiff is coming out this weekend.  She called me today and informed me that she would like to come.  *sighs*  When I asked my mom she looked at me like I was crazy for asking.  It is polite to ask the homeowner, after all, but noooo she has to act like it's crazy for me to bother to ask.

On that note, I need to head out to pick up Tiff.  *grins*  It'll be fun!

So I got one of my textbooks today.  It was my Managerial Accounting book, and we got it used through Amazon (S&H included) for around $20.  It was $140-ish used through my school bookstore.  It's in perfect condition as far as I can see too.  I only flipped through, but it doesn't even look like it's been highlighted or marked in any way.  Talk about a steal!!!  As it is we spent almost $500 in books this semester, plus over $300 in school fees.  *sighs*  I hate how expensive it is to go to school, and this is at a jc.

On another note, I am currently downloading a lot of anime, and making apple cider.  Apple cider is the best thing in the world at this time of night.  It'd be even better if it was raining, but California is tricky in it's mood-swing-like weather (in other words it rains one day and is warm and sunny the next).  I'm going to watch some anime, and enjoy a pot of apple cider, then I'll hopefully go to bed at a decent hour.  My early mornings start next week after all, and I really need to start going to bed at normal hours.

Winter Break is just awesome.  I have another week and a half before school starts!!!  *tears of joy*  It's so nice just being able to sleep, though I do have to say that I'm beginning to run out of things to read.  *sighs*  I've begun to play WoW again, so that's interesting.  I'd love my mage more if she lived longer (go AoEs!!!).  The Fury class of EQII is still my favorite class.  Being able to take on mobs a few levels higher was just fun.  I need to see if I can reborrow The Valykria Chrinicles from Ian.  I need to return the rest of his books too, and give both of them their Christmas present (tea) (both referring to Ian and Luna).  I'm also playing The Witcher right now, and I've got to say that it is an excellent game.  I'm playing it on easy mode of course, because I'm playing for the plot, but it's still very enjoyable.

I bought a lot of books over this break.  I love getting money for Christmas.  My first load was about eight books I think, then yesterday I bought nine more (all manga that I love mind you).  I also spent $20 at Bath and Body works buying some odds and ends (because sales rock).  I should probably just give in and go buy the bubble bath I was eyeing, and find a replacement for my hand cream (they discontinued the Breathe line, which was my favorite).  I got some shirts (five to be exact) at New York and Company.  I love their clothes.  Which reminds me that I was going to order some jeans from their website (they were sold out in store).  I got three sweaters and two dress shirts.  All could be worn in the casual business style (I <3 looking good and professional).

I totally have a bunch of things to do this week.  I'm going to start getting up in the morning, because I'll die next week if I don't start now (I'll be getting up at either 5 or 6 in the morning every week day this semester).  I have a ton of classes in town this time (like all but one are in town) so I'll be hanging out at Starbucks a lot again.  I love the 11th street Starbucks.  I've spent so many hours there since it opened (it was my hang out spot after school in high school (because I lived to far to walk and my parents had to pick me up somewhere)).

I totally texted Liz as I was writing my resolutions.  I was like, 'Why should I just do it now?  I have her number after all.'  And my good friend Holly is leaving for Texas on the 11th of this month to begin training for her deployment.  She'd been trying to transfer to Will's (her husband) unit for nearly a year I think, and it just wasn't going through because the idoits in her unit (which is based in Texas) just weren't communicating with her.  I think it's stupid that she has to ship out with them when she's been trying to transfer for so long.  *sighs*

I ran into Rachel/Rae at the mall yesterday.  She was with Eric and Cat (Kat?).  Eric meaning the middle one (as far as heights go).  Not big Eric and not little Eric, the other one.  *laughs*  I hung out with them for a while and we talked quite a bit.  Rae had my number now, so hopefully we'll keep in contact better.  It's good to see old friends.  Now if only Britt would come out already.  That slacker still hasn't finished my wolf painting!!!

I'm out of things to ramble about.  I thought of another resolution:  Post at least once a week if not more.  It's a good record for me (and my friends).

Just wanted to give my holiday wishes to everyone while I wait for dinner to finish cooking.  We're having pasta...I had to make the sauce, and my mother informed me that I was making dinner yesterday.  (I went with a meal that we already had the stuff for so I wouldn't have to brave the store.)  Anyway, I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays.  Have fun while it lasts!

So, like I stated in the subject, Devil May Cry had devoured my soul.  Lady and Trish are awesome, and Dante/Nero is one of my newest favorite pairings (added to the very, very long list).  I'm actually considering writing a short Dante/Nero fic, because I just don't see enough love for the pairing.  And really, I'm someone that goes straight for the het pairings before even thinking about the slash pairings...but the opening fight in DMC4 did me in.  I officially ship Dante/Nero.  I've managed to collect some DMC icons too.  I have lots on my compute (I have thousands of icons saved in my avatar folder), and some on here too. *points at the Lady icon currently in use*  I just don't know what to do!!!

On another note, I seriously hate school.  And I feel stupid because I'm hoping for a C in botany.  A C.  I should have an A in the cursed class, but now I'm hoping for a C because I treat school too casually and have been skipping too much.  *sighs*  I have two assignments to turn in tomorrow, and tomorrow and Friday are my last classes before Wednesday's final.  I really need to buckle down and study.  I really hate myself sometimes.  I really wish that for once I'd do everything I want to get done in a day, and not just get one or two things done...I'm going to stop now, because I'm going to make myself even more frustrated than I already am.  I know better than to lose my calm, but it seems that my habits do that to me.

To switch to something safe and more happy, I'm going over to Will and Holly's on Thursday evening.  We're doing an early holiday thing, so we can exchange gifts.  I'm going to pick up their present tomorrow on the way home.  Costco is the way to go after all.  I'm getting them a tea kettle because I said I would almost three months ago (note that I said I'd be getting that for them for Christmas).  Holly's been using a saucepan to heat water for tea and the such, and they haven't been able to afford a lot of things that they could use but aren't necessary.  They've almost been married a year and a half now...It's amazing because I remember just how adamant Holly was about not dating Will in the first place.  *laughs*  I cut a picture of them together into a heart shape for one of my scrapbook pages in 8th grade.  It was a joke at the time, but now it's kind of like foreshadowing.  *laughs again*  Good memories.

I think I'm going to sign off on that note.  I still have some stuff to do tonight.

Today is known to some as the Day of Infamy, in commemoration of what happened at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. In your lifetime, what date sticks out as the most memorable in terms of world events?

View other answers

The date that sticks out as the most memorable in terms of world events, for me had to be 9/11.  That was a terrible day, and I still remember it so clearly.  I was in eighth grade, and we watched the news in nearly every class that day.  Watching the towers collapse--It was really terrible.

So today is the big day for my botany midterm.  I totally didn't study enough.  I was too busy watching my mom play Devil May Cry 4.  She finished the 19th mission last night, so she'll finish the game after I get home today (nice of her to wait, isn't it?).  She is directionally challenged in games...So I often have to say things like, "No, south.  South mom, not west, south.  You have a mini-map!"  It's sort of funny actually.  We got the game on Friday...and I love the cutscenes.  They are awesome.  Dante is just too funny.  I think I might steal it away from my mom after she finished (in other words I'll log in as her and play the missions that I like).

I was talking about the midterm I have in like 2 hours.  I so didn't study enough.  I don't know how well I'll do.  Oh well, I'll try my best (and damn my mother for getting a good game right before my midterm).

I totally skipped class today.  Luna was skipping, and I don't feel all that great.  Plus my leg is giving me all sorts of shit.  I've started doing my floor stretches again, and it hurts like a bitch, but I don't think I'm actually doing anymore damage, thankfully.  I think this is one of those will-get-much-worse-before-it-gets-better kinds of things.  It's seriously miserable though; I'm in pain constantly, unless I'm scorching myself with a heating pad on high for hours on end.  It's getting quite annoying.

I really need to study more for my midterm or I'm not going to pass the class.  Need to pass botany if I want to finish up in the spring.  Botany is my life science requirement.  Really, really need to pass it.  Not feeling well though, and I need to go pick up my car.  It's in the shop for the third time in two months.  They don't have the right tools for all of the testing they'll need to do on it (to find what's wrong) so I need to pick it up today.  That means it'll be in again by the end of the month.  Joy.  On that note I should probably go bug my mom into action.

I totally sent the second joint post's start.  As well as a layout for the room it takes place in.  I am not an artist, so it's badly drawn.  I finished writing the thing on Wednesday, but I took forever to type it up.  *sighs*

I have been so tired lately.  Can't seem to stop sleeping.  I must need more exercise.  *mutters about her stupid leg*  I tore something in my leg a few weeks ago and it's finally starting to get better.  Hurts a lot still though, and painkillers don't seem to help.  Heat does though, so lots of heating pad use.  I should be studying right now.  I have a midterm in Botany a week from Monday, and I have accounting due tomorrow.  Need to read the chapter we're working through in Botany, as well as the current chapter in Accounting.  Oh, tomorrow is a second chapter so I have a two chapter test as well.  Joy.  At least I like accounting, right?

We got our Christmas stuff up.  Our new tree looks great.  It's fake, but huge and fairly real looking.  We got almost all of our ornaments up on it, which used to take two trees.  It looks awesome.  My mom collects glass ornaments, so it's really beautiful.  I can't believe how fast time is going by.  Almost Christmas...Almost Thanksgiving, then it's be Christmas right on top of that...And then I'll be starting spring semester.

I registered for classes on Friday.  I really want to just be done, so I'm taking the last of the classes that I need in spring.  All of them.  I think I'm at 17 units, 5 days a week.  Two night classes.  One class in Stockton, the other 4 in Tracy.  Thank the gods for that at least.  I only have to make that drive twice a week, the rest are in town, about 10 minutes away.  I now need to double check the times of my classes to figure out if I'm going to need to go 30 minutes early.  The high school is next door to the Tracy campus, on the same access road.  Traffic is a nightmare.  Damn, my TTh and my F class both start at 8:30.  I think I'll be fine if I leave home at 8:10, but you never know.  And my Stockton class is from 8-9.  I'd forgotten about that.  I have to leave by 7.  That means I should be getting up at 5.  Gods, I am not a morning person.  *sobs*

On that note, I'm going to go study now.

I totally got my rp post up.  It took me a month (only about 5 hours of writing total though).  1278 words out of the 500 minimum.  *laughs*  I was trying to keep it short too.  I just hope that it works out okay.  On a similar, but different note, I am going to start on Of Pirates and Weddings again.  I just need to get the first part of the next joint post written and sent first.  I'm only 103 words away from 5000 words for that story (at least by the ff.net count).  I can't wait to break that with my next chapter.  After I break 5000 I can be an active beta if I so will it.  Yay.  I'm going to go start on the first joint post now, since I'm thinking about it.  *sighs*  I just love coming up with settings.  At least this will be set in an onsen, so it should be interesting.

I voted for Obama and he won!  I'm so happy!  I just hope he will bring the nation into better times.  I'm so hopeful right now.  I just hope that the remaining 5% count for Prop 8 end up being no.  It's at 52% to 48% currently, with yes in the lead.  Disgusting.

I'm posting this a day late.  So there.

I made it to the airport and through security just fine.  I flew out of gate 43 from SFO to gate F10 MNP (?).  Was it just that simple?  No, we were diverted because of a thunderstorm and because we were running low on fuel.  *nods*  We were circling for like 20 minutes and then were diverted to somewher 30 or so minutes away for fuel.  *sighs*  I was supposed to get in at 6 Central, but no, I got in at 8:30.  We boarded at 11:30 PST.  We were in that plane for around 6-ish hours.  *annoyed*

So I made it out of the airport okay, after getting directions, because the place is huge.  Huge.  I meet up with my Uncle Mike and my cousins and we head out.  We stopped at a Walmart on the way to my grandparents so that I could get the basics that you can't take on a plane (I didn't check any luggage).  I made it there and my Omi made me a baked pancake (yum) and we all sat down in the porch.  My grandpa came out and then we were really all there.  We talked for a while as I ate (my first meal of the day at 10 PM), and then my uncle and cousins left.  Omi, Grandpa, and I talked for a while before I admitted the fact that I was tired (running on 4 hours of sleep and I didn't sleep on the plane).  I settled in and got ready for bed.

So that's it for today!

I hate the night before a big event.  I haven't flown for 6 years, and I'm frantically trying to go around figuring out if I have what I need or not.  *sighs*  I'm pretty much prepared, but...*sighs*  I have a feeling that I'll be forgetting something, which would just figure.   I'm like completely frantic.  I don't think I'll be sleeping much tonight.  Wish me luck please.

I'm at 78%.  My mind stopped working after that, so just 2% more to my C.  Yay.  *sighs*  I totally had to redo like 10 sections after my assessment.  It knocked me down to 64% and I had to go back up from there.  I just need two sections to get to 80%.  I did the math.  89/111 is just this side of 80%.  Tomorrow morning, before we go to see the Dark Knight I'll do the last two sections.  I'll also, hopefully, be reading The DK of GLU's newest chapter tomorrow morning.  Maybe later on, we'll see when it's posted.  I'm really looking forward to it.

I saw Hellboy II: The Golden Army today.  Went the the earliest showing with my mom. I liked it.  It was nice to be out with her.  Krauss was awesome (I think that's how you spell it).  And I'm starting to think with the surname being more important than the given name...I've been imersed in manga/anime/fandom for too long.  There is no longer any hope for me.

I saw Luna today.  We hung out for a little over 3 hours.  We talked a lot.  And we figured out where she was in One Piece.  *nods*  We must get her caught up so that she's aware of the Water 7/Enies Lobby/Thriller Bark arcs for the rp.  She's my sounding board for it.  Also, for the rp I've decided to go with the idea that Sandai Kitetsu can give Silver wounds that heal like a normal human's would.  It's a demon slayer sword, after all.  Unless my information is incorrect...*needs to fact check once more*  Anyway, Tiff is being lame and not updating the rp.  It's her turn and she's taking longer than I did with the first post (and I had to do setting and a couple of lead-ins for potential plot development!).  *annoyed*  I hope she reads this so that she'll tell me when she's going to get it up!!!  She's been evasive and it's annoying me more than if she'd just say that she hasn't worked on it yet.

I'm going to bed.  Early morning tomorrow for school.  Joy.
